Manchester United vs. Coventry City

Old Trafford

26 September

20:00

Just like the old days

The Sky Blues biggest game since relegation from the Premiership? 10,000+ City fans think so and will be in attendance at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Vital Quotes:

Sir Alex Ferguson: "It will be a fantastic atmosphere and I am sure Coventry will have a real go.

"From what I am led to believe, Coventry are bringing over 10,000 fans with them. They were one of the longest-serving top-flight clubs at one point but they have been out of the Premier League now, which probably explains the attraction. It should be a real cup tie."

Manchester United Team News:

Rooney, Saha and Hargeaves are likely to be the most recognisable names on the United team-sheet as Sir Alex gives some of his fringe players a game.

Player to watch: Wayne Rooney

An obvious one perhaps but the England international striker is reportedly desperate to play as he continues his comeback from injury.

Coventry City Team News:

Plenty of scope for changes after the 4-1 defeat at Ipswich with Andy Marshall a definite to start in goal.

Player to watch: Michael Mifsud

The Maltese forward will surely start if fit and out of all of the City players has the tools to trouble United's defence.

Match Facts & Stats

Have faith, the last time the two sides met in a cup competition, the Sky Blues won 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to that man Keith Houchen.

Ref Watch:

A big game and a big-time official with Mark Halsey set to take charge.

Next Fixtures:

Charlton at home for the Sky Blues, Birmingham City away for the Reds.

Your Comments

It's good to see that the support for the club remains strong enough to have interest like this in what is only a 3rd round tie after all. Lets hope that the team join the fans in making a good impression on people who might have forgotten about us!
Rugby Sky Blue
Agreed. It's hard to see us winning the game but we can take away plenty from it, including a much-needed cash boost.
