'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Southampton vs. Coventry City

St Mary's

22 March

15:00

Saints Preview

Another week, another six-pointer at the wrong end of the Championship.

The Sky Blues have improved hugely in their last four games but just two
goals (one from the spot) and five points has been a poor reward.

Southampton looked to have turned the corner under new manager Nigel
Pearson before last weekend's hammering at Hull.

It remains to be seen whether that was a one-off or the start of a poor run of form.

Vital Quotes: Ray Ranson

'The call ups set the tone for what we are trying to do here at Coventry by bringing in bright, young talent who can progress and take the club forward,' said the chairman after Scott Dann and Daniel Fox were named in the England Under-21 squad.

'They have both shown that they want to play for Coventry City and are helping do all they can to ensure we get enough points to stay in this league.'

Southampton Team News:

Saints captain Andrew Davies is out for the season after suffering a
fractured cheekbone.

'It's a huge disappointment for him, for us and for the fans,' said manager Nigel Pearson.

Loan signing Richard Wright is set to start in goal

Player to watch: Stern John

The ex-City striker has 16 goals to his name this season.

Coventry City Team News:

Michael Doyle and Stephen Hughes are doubts with concussion and a knee injury respectively.

Colin Hawkins returned to reserve team action in midweek but is unlikely to feature.

Player to watch: Kasper Schmeichel

Likely to have more to do in goal than on his debut last week.
