'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ex-Sky Blues around the world

Former Coventry City goalkeeper Radomir 'Raddy' Avramovic is preparing to lead Singapore into battle in the Asian section of the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup.

The minnows have improved dramatically under the Serb and breezed past Palestine and Tajikstan to make it to the third qualifying round and a group containing Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Lebanon.

'There are no easy groups at this level but we'll look to surprise the favourites in our section,' he told the FIFA website ahead of next week's opening game against Saudi Arabia.

Avramovic joined City in September 1983 after a spell at Notts County but was axed by Bobby Gould later that same season after being blamed for a defeat at home to Stoke as the Sky Blues hurtled towards the relegation zone.

Peter Ndlovu meanwhile could have played his last game for Zimbabwe. Capped 100 times by his country and also Zimbabwe's record goalscorer, the former Sky Blues favourite has been left out of the first squad named by new coach Jose Valinhos.

Brazilian Valinhos is looking to guide his side to the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup in 2010 after Zimbabwe failed to make the 2008 ACoN.

Ndlovu currently plays for South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.

Perhaps soon to become an ex-Sky Blue abroad is Darren Huckerby. Having said that he will not sign a new contract with Norwich City, the striker is reportedly wanted by a number of MLS clubs including Toronto FC.

'It's an option, certainly. I know he likes the idea of the challenge,' said agent Phil Smith.
