Dowie ready to spend

Iain Dowie will meet new Coventry City chairman Ray Ranson next week to discuss new signings as the Sky Blues' new era gets underway.

'I always have a shopping list ready just like any manager,' he said after the 1-1 draw with Southampton.

'There are one or two areas we would like to look at and if we want to take this club forward we have to do that.

'The new chairman wants to sit down with me next week and he has said he wants to invest from the Academy upwards and strengthen the first team.

'The players we bring in have to be the right character. The players we have have done well in adversity and we will not be discarding them.

'We have been out scouting regularly and in Europe as well. This is a very, very good club and has the potential to be top flight.'
