'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tykes boss upbeat ahead of opener

Coventry City travel to Barnsley on Saturday for the opening game of the Championship season and Tykes manager Simon Davey is upbeat about his side's prospects for the campaign.

Speaking after last week's friendly against Wigan Athletic he told the club's official website: 'It was a good run out for the lads and things are starting to take shape.

'The new lads are starting to settle in well although they still need some time and a little work on the training ground.

'Overall I was very pleased with how they did and it is another step towards the first game.'
