City one of five keen on Gray

Coventry City 'lead the chase' for freed Birmingham City wideman Julian Gray according to weekend reports.

The 27-year-old, who played under Iain Dowie at Crystal Palace, is also wanted by Charlton, Hull, Leicester and Sheffield Wednesday.

After adding Ellery Cairo to provide some width on the right-hand side, Gray could perform the same task on the left where City badly missed Gary McSheffrey, the man who kept Gray out of the side at Blues, last season.

Such a signing would give plenty of competition in all areas of the pitch after the captures made to date.
