9,000 put their faith in Sky Blues
Coventry City have revealed that season ticket sales are much the same as last year, with around 9,000 sold to date.
'We can't expect too much until we do get a winning team,' managing director Paul Fletcher told the Coventry Telegraph.
'I am delighted how season ticket sales have gone so far, being round about where we were last season.
'And when you consider we finished eighth the season before last and then 17th last season, the fans deserve a big pat on the back for sticking with us.'
Vital view: the fact that sales are similar to last season despite an effort to cut prices shows how far City still have to go to win back the trust of the fans.
A winning team is all well and good but most fans are realistic in their ambitions.
Signs of progress are what is needed and a feeling that buying a season ticket is an investment in the club.
Clubs such as Norwich City have cultivated these feelings and have been rewarded with excellent season ticket sales over the past few years, regardless of what has been happening on the pitch (nearly 19,000 by the middle of June).
