'If It's Football, It's Vital'

CCC clubs cast their net wide

A sign of the renewed financial confidence of football league clubs and the amount of money filtering down to the second tier of the game is shown in the amount of transfer activity that has already taken place this summer.

As well as looking into the lower divisions for talent, clubs are increasingly looking abroad for new players.

Plymouth have completed the permanent signings of Hungarian duo Peter Halmosi and Krisztian Timar while Barnsley, who enjoyed success with their Hungarian signings last season have gone further afield to capture Peru international striker Miguel Mostto.

Burnley have snapped up Besart Berisha, an Albanian forward from Hamburg.

Leicester are set to buy former Ajax midfielder Sergio Hellings while Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Brom have all been linked with foreign signings.

Closer to home Charlton and Watford have already been busy spending their parachute payment money while Sheffield United will join them if their relegation is confirmed.

With new owners in place, Leicester City have been busy while Wolves are close to having new faces in the boardroom and are set to capture hotshot striker Freddy Eastwood.
