'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sky Blues round-up

Don Hutchison is already keen to extend the short-term contract he signed last week at the Ricoh Arena.

The former Scotland international has signed a deal until the end of the season after his impressive loan spell and said: 'The gaffer and me have been ribbing each other over the last week but it is nice to get my future sorted, and I am over the moon to play for Coventry.

'I would absolutely love to stay longer than just the end of the season. I have signed six months until the end of the season but I was after another year after this.

'The manager has been ribbing me saying that I am not 21 any more, so we have had a good bit of banter. I don't know the ins and outs of why I didn't get another year, but Coventry have been very good with me and I think it is maybe my age, 34, and a few other things that have maybe counted against me.

'But if I keep on scoring and the team play well and the gaffer wants me, I would love to sign for another year.'

On loan goalkeeper Marton Fulop also wants to carry on playing for the Sky Blues.

The Hungarian has been a first-team regular since joining from Tottenham and told the club website: 'My loan is up at the end of the month but I'd like to extend it until the end of the season.

'I'm enjoying my time here. I like the supporters.'

Captain Stephen Hughes meanwhile has been ruled out for another four to five weeks with an achilles injury.

Hughes had been close to a return from his back problem which has restricted him to just one appearance since November.
