'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Season as it happened - January

Coventry City start 2007 as they finished 2006, losing 2-1 to Dennis Wise's struggling Leeds United side.

Matt Heath makes a permanent move to Elland Road while Mikkel Bischoff also leaves.

The pressure is growing on Micky Adams and when Bristol City take a 3-1 lead in the FA Cup tie that follows, things look bleak for the boss.

The Sky Blues fightback however to earn a replay and there is more good news when striker Michael Mifsud is signed from Lillestrom.

Adams says: 'We're delighted Michael opted to join us.

'There were a a number of clubs interested and as well as being a proven goalscorer, he will bring more depth to the squad.'

The manager's position however proves untenable with dismal home defeats by Crystal Palace and Bristol City spelling the end for Adams.

Adrian Heath again takes over as caretaker and after a 3-2 defeat by Plymouth in which Mifsud scores his first goal, guides City to a vital home win against Luton.

Irish defender Colin Hawkins makes his debut against the Hatters while Stern John joins promotion-chasing Sunderland.
