Adam worth a Vir-go?

On-loan Coventry City defender Adam Virgo has bounced back well from firstly the injury that ruled him for the first-half of the season and then some shaky displays as the Micky Adams reign came to an end.

He has been a solid citizen at right-back in the absence of David McNamee, and has kept his place ahead of Andy Whing in recent games.

Would Iain Dowie still be picking the former Brighton man if he was not thinking of a permanent deal, especially as City now have little to play for in terms of the play-offs or relegation?

Although he has a long contract at Celtic, Virgo has little chance of reviving his career with the SPL champions-elect.

McNamee has impressed at times but has been hampered by injury in his first season at the club while Whing again looks a candidate to leave in the summer after failing to make the most of his chances.

Have your say on whether City should pursue a deal for Virgo. Vote in the poll or comment on this article.

He certainly inspires more confidence at the back than Whingy
CET Stander
I felt a bit for Whing being played in midfield against QPR.

That's fair enough but it was his appaling passing that let him down against QPR and got him stick from the crowd. He needs to improve that to make an impact, even at right-back.
CET Stander
say what you like (and we have) about City's other defenders but Virgo is absolutely NOT the answer. For a defender/striker his shooting is appalling and his tackling is inadequate. In short: ship him out. please.

Glad to see he has been doing well for you. As a Brighton fan I was sad to see him go a few years back but we got £1.5m for him which was a good return. He's a very good defender and is certainly Championship quality and if you can afford him and he is available, he is well worth considering. On another note, we'd love to have Andy Whing back permanently so in a strange way i'm pleased that he's not doing that well for you as he was fantastic when he was with us on loan earlier on in the season!
ben18
um ben18 did you read my comments? Virgo single handedly put us out of this seasons FA cup to Bristol and caused our defeat at home to Palace. He's fat and talentless- you can have him back to sell him again if you like.
skyblueox
That was at a time skyblueox when the whole side was in disarray to be fair. He has looked much more solid at right-back under Dowie.
CET Stander
solid in that he still hasn't lost any weight- I understand what you're saying though- still doesn't alter the fact he is not the answer and should be sent packing.
