'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Adams pleased as Sky Blues progress

Gary McSheffrey scored the only goal of the game as Coventry made it into the 4th round of the FA Cup for an impressive 11th time in 12 seasons.

The win will provide a financial boost to Sky Blues boost Micky Adams, who felt his side deserved to win a scrappy game.

'This wasn't a good game, but our aim was to get into the fourth round however we managed it,' said Adams afterwards.

'I decided to play Gary McSheffrey down the right and it worked. He caused them problems and scored a good goal, and one goal was always going to decide it.'

'One thing that did please me was our mentality going into the game. It was a good defensive display and there were very few clear-cut chances at either end.'

Brighton manager Mark McGhee praised his side's effort but felt that the Seagulls lacked a cutting edge, adding: 'The modern game is about the flair player and the difference can be the player who can unlock a game for you.'
