'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wolves boss backing Bothroyd

Former Coventry City striker Jay Bothroyd was the hero of the hour as Wolves defeated arch-rivals West Brom on Sunday, and could get a start against his former club at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday night.

'He is knocking on the door but he has to do it week in, week out,' said Mick McCarthy.

'He has been fantastic in training and looked all week like he was going to be a good sub for us.

'Rightly he has had his nose out of joint because he has other lads (Andy Keogh and Stephen Ward) playing up front ahead of him.

'But we have all seen here what a player he is and he deserves praise for getting himself fitter because he is far better now.'
