Dowie pleased with Irish defender

Coventry City manager Iain Dowie has praised recent signing Colin Hawkins and confirmed that the former Shelbourne man will keep Robert Page out of the starting line-up at Colchester on Saturday.

'Colin is the man in possession and I don't envisage a change at this stage because he has done well,' said the Sky Blues supremo.

'There are lots of little bits that I will pick out to show him and I have got some highlights that are things he can learn from, but to come from where he has at such a late stage, he should be applauded.

'He is 29 years old and come from Irish football and, although he has been here before, it is a big step.

'I think Colin is his harshest critic and he should be a bit easier on himself at times because he has done very well.'
