'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Senegal star can take City chance

New Coventry City manager Iain Dowie has backed his first signing, midfielder Khalilou Fadiga to make an impact at the Ricoh Arena.

'He's been captain of Senegal so he has been a top level player so it works for him because he gets to play some football and we get to have a look at him,' said the Sky Blues boss, who snapped up the ex-Bolton man last week on a deal until the end of the season.

'There were a lot of clubs sniffing around him so it was a case of acting.

'He can provide a little bit of creativity in the final third.

'When he came on against Norwich we had lost our way a little bit and our retention of the ball had gone from being excellent to not being as good, and Khali came on just before that and tried to make an impression.'
