A Huge Boost as Coventry City Re-Sign Star
With both Mark Robins and Michael Doyle having rebuffed the old adage that you should never go back to your former club it is now the turn of Carl Baker as he begins his second spell as a Coventry City player.
Having been back in and around the Sky Blues set-up for the past couple of months Baker has now signed a short-term deal until the end of the season and is eligible for an immediate debut against Barnet on Saturday.
One of the most popular City players of the post-Premier League era, Baker was not only a creative presence on the field but someone who took his captaincy duties very seriously during the time of the club's self-imposed exile to Northampton.
He told the official CCFC website: 'It's been nice to get sweating again, getting out on the field, putting the boots back on and it's just those small little things that you miss when you`re out injured for so long and being in amongst the lads and being involved in the banter.'
With Mark Robins praising Baker's qualities as a person around the dressing room and the player recently setting up an academy in the local area it is a canny piece of PR if nothing else for City to do the deal and add him to their options between now and the end of the season.
