As League Two Freezes, Can City Heat Up Promotion Chase?

Coventry City are confident that Saturday`s fixture against Lincoln City at the Ricoh Arena will be one of the few League Two matches to escape the clutches of the severe weather that has gripped the UK this week.

The Sky Blues updated on Friday lunchtime that the Ricoh surface was in playable condition but have advised supporters to arrive early.

A large Lincoln contingent was due to head to CV6 but that part of the country has been particularly hard hit by the weather conditions this week so it remains to be seen how many manage to make it.

On the pitch, with most of their rivals out of action, both teams have the chance to boost their play-off hopes and the Sky Blues can actually move into the top seven with a victory.

That would represent a big turnaround from the situation at around twenty past three last Saturday when City were a goal down and a man down at Mansfield and seemingly on their way to a fourth successive league defeat.

A gutsy fightback at Field Mill and a hard-fought win in very tough conditions at Wycombe on Tuesday evening mean it is all to play for once again for Mark Robins and his side.

Update The game has been called off, the decision being made at 9:50am after worsening weather overnight and with concerns over access to and safety at the stadium.
