City's £67,500 Transfer Boost

City's £67,500 Transfer Boost

On undoubtedly the best occasion at the Ricoh Arena since the first game back at the stadium, following exile in Northampton, Coventry City made national headlines on Saturday with a superb 2-1 victory against Stoke City in the Third Round of the FA Cup.

Mark Hughes' fate as Potters manager was sealed as his Premier League side were beaten by a hugely determined and dangerous Sky Blues side who recovered from the second-half penalty that hauled Stoke back into the game.

A bigger than normal Ricoh crowd, boosted by a large away contingent, showed that the magic of the competition is still there when two teams forget about their respective league positions and go all-out for victory in the 90 minutes.

But for City, who will have ball number 8 in the Fourth Round, there remains all to play for in League Two where automatic promotion is the target.

That aim can only be boosted by the funds generated by Saturday's win with £67,500 coming from the FA prize fund in addition to ticket sales and media income with the Sky Blues being the main commentary on BBC Five Live and the first game on Saturday's Match of the Day.
