Sky Blues Show Up Well Despite Stalemate

Coventry City failed to make it four wins in a row on Saturday as they were held to a goalless draw by Barnet in a lunchtime kick-off at The Hive.

A live television audience witnessed a dreary first-half, with little in the way of chances on either side, but it was the Sky Blues who stepped up after the break with a more dominant display that brought everything but a winning goal.

There was nothing in the way of a gilt-edged opportunity but lots more hope in and around the box, behind which were City's near-1,400 travelling fans.

'The crowd we brought were magnificent so it felt like a home game and we have kept a clean-sheet,' said manager Mark Robins afterwards.

That clean sheet never looked in doubt as Barnet, with key strikers absent, struggled to land any kind of blow on the Sky Blues settled back four and midfield partnership of Liam Kelly and Michael Doyle.

Further forward, with the in-form Duckens Nazon in Japan with the Haiti squad, Jodi Jones again provided the creative spark in attack.

City are on the road again this coming Saturday as they face Accrington Stanley, the Lancashire club having suffered a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Luton Town at the weekend to leave them just below the Sky Blues on goal difference.
