Ince the new favourite for City job

Former England international Paul Ince has been heavily backed to become the next manager of Coventry City after turning around the fortunes of Macclesfield Town in a short space of time at the League Two club.

Bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth said: 'Ince has been the only one the punters have wanted to be with since the weekend and, if you believe money talks, then they look to be onto a winner.

'We dipped our toes into the water again on Monday morning offering 11/8, but this was snapped up in minutes, so we had no other option but to suspend betting until the situation becomes clearer.'

I'm not sure, but if he can bring the passion to the team he use to have on the pitch it would help

If I'm not mistaken, Ince was understudy to Wisey at Swindon - but jacked it in because he didn't like being told what to do. There is no doubt that he demonstrated passion as a player any has obviously conveyed this to the Mac Lads to get them to their current poistion. But lets not lose focus here - getting out of the championship is a completely different kettle of fish to getting into the Premiership. THIS IS ANOTHER GAMBLE! Not the considered appointment I had hoped for! I am hoping it's pure speculation, but fear otherwise. Regardless, if it is o be so, I will give him the time he will deserve - and happily eat my words should it be a success!

Sorry - should have said 'getting out of Division 2' - must be the excitement!

Sometimes you have to take a gamble on a manager, its very risky appointing Ince but you can look at what Roy Keane has done at Sunderland. He brought passion, pride and a never say die attitude which maybe the club was lacking.... worth a gamble? I think so.

All managerial appointments are gambles. Look at how the likes of Iain Dowie and Phil Parkinson did at new clubs this season, sacked within months despite good previous records. None of us know what Ince is doing behind the scenes at Macc to get them playing well, it can't just be passion or else Barry Fry would be in charge of Chelsea.

I'm still not sure, but we have to hope that the powers of be do their homework, I do think Paul Fletcher and co is taking time on the manager and I think and hope they will make the right choice. I also think Ince is just talk

I agree on the last point ccfcks. My hunch is that they will try and find an Aidy Boothroyd type that not many have heard of.
