New Signing Brings Some Sky Blue Cheer

New Signing Brings Some Sky Blue Cheer

On an afternoon of few positives for Coventry City as they lost top spot in League Two thanks to a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Newport County, the performance of substitute Tony Andreu did draw praise from manager Mark Robins and captain Michael Doyle.

Robins captured the attack-minded midfielder after his release by Norwich City and, with Andreu having been a regular goalscorer in Scotland with Hamilton and Dundee United, his signing was a definite statement of intent by the Sky Blues as there would surely have been some League One interest in the 29-year-old Frenchman.

But he is here at the Ricoh Arena and showed enough when thrown into the fray on Saturday afternoon to convince supporters that he may be the man to make the difference on those hard-fought occasions when teams such as Newport are making life as difficult as possible for a City side regarded as one of the division's big guns.

"One of the divisions big guns" that has to be a complete understatement,Coventry by far are the biggest club in this league bar none. It's rare to see a former Premiership club to be in league two,it has happened before with local rivals Wolves who went on to win back to back promotions and this club could do likewise.Coventry are a huge club who won't be in league two for very long.
