Nolan Comments Back Up City's Summer Signings
With Michael Doyle as his first summer signing and the likes of Rod McDonald, Peter Vincenti and Marc McNulty following, Coventry City manager Mark Robins made experience one of the key aspects of his early summer transfer dealings and the quartet all made their league debuts for the Sky Blues (a second time around for Doyle of course) in Saturday's 3-0 victory against Notts County.
A perfect start for City in front of over 10,000 at the Ricoh Arena with Jodi Jones grabbing the headlines thanks to his hat-trick.
But comments from Notts boss Kevin Nolan after the match point to the wisdom of Robins' recruitment.
He told his club's official website that 'Coventry did the right things at the right times without being spectacular.
'There are a lot of experienced pros in their team which really showed today.'
After the calamity of last summer's transfer business in CV6, the cobbled-together nature of the Coventry team for much of the campaign and the glaring lack of experience throughout the season, those words ae music to the ears of Sky Blues supporters hoping for a promotion bid to keep their spirits up as the club's off-field problems show no sign of disappearing.
