Coventry City - Sunday Transfer Supplement

A weekly look at transfers and rumours with a Sky Blue interest but also including some snippets from elsewhere.

Coventry City: Mark Robins will be delighted to get his first deal of the summer done so quickly, agreeing a contract to bring Michael Doyle back to the Ricoh Arena after the expiry of his Portsmouth contract.

Also linked with a move to the Ricoh Arena is Yeovil central defender Alex Lacey with the Coventry Telegraph suggesting that the 23-year-old could be tempted by a switch despite a new contract offer set to
be made by the Glovers.

Non-League striker Danny Newton is also being seen as a potential target, according to the Tamworth Herald which reports on the player for National League club Tamworth, currently managed by ex-Highfield Road favourite Andy Morrell.

Former Sky Blues: Both Zavon Hines and Frank Nouble (the scorer of the first goal back at the Ricoh Arena) have been released by Southend United manager Phil Brown while Gary McSheffrey is leaving Doncaster Rovers and Liam Davis has not been offered a new Cheltenham deal.

Scott Shearer has left Mansfield while fellow goalkeeper Chris Dunn has signed a new deal at Wrexham and Richard Wood has a new contract offer on the table at Rotherham United.

Rumour of the week: Two of City`s fellow relegated clubs, Port Vale and Chesterfield, are keen on signing Torquay United midfielder Courtney Richards according to The Non-League Paper with the 23-year-old former Brighton & Hove Albion man also wanted by Shrewsbury.
