Midfielder To Make Coventry City Return
Coventry City's first signing of the summer, also their first under Mark Robins in his second spell as manager, is also set to be a familiar face to Sky Blues supporters.
Andy Turner of the Coventry Telegraph has revealed that Michael Doyle is poised to break through the 300-appearance mark for City with a free transfer return to the Ricoh Arena after the expiry of his contract with Portsmouth.
Without wishing to put a hex on him, Doyle brings with him a guarantee that he will be make 40+ appearances during a campaign and he will come back to Coventry on the back of a promotion-winning season with Pompey.
Although he occasionally split opinion as a player, City desperately need somebody to knit together the talent that does exist in the squad and try to make the difference at crucial moments in matches.
Dennis Wise was probably the last person to have fulfilled that role successfully, while some big names such as Joe Cole have failed to do so.
All credit to Robins for identifying that need as the starting point for his summer recruitment.
