Whelan to hang up his boots?

Ex-Coventry City star Noel Whelan may be forced into retirement after a series of injury setbacks with his current club Dunfermline Athletic.

The 31-year-old has made only one brief appearance for the Pars since joining them in the summer and is believed to have held talks over terminating his contract.

Whelan made 155 Sky Blue appearances between 1995 and 2000, scoring 39 goals.
