CCFC: New Signings Please Pressley
Much of the focus of Coventry City's summer transfer business has been on the need to replace star striker Callum Wilson but doing so on a like-for-like basis would prove beyond the capability of many clubs.
Manager Steven Pressley, therefore, has been looking to inject more of a threat going forward into the midfield and wide areas of his team and has been pleased with what he has seen so far from two of the players charged with doing just that, his fellow Scots Danny Swanson and Jim O'Brien.
Pressley was lavish in his praise of Swanson's display against Bristol Rovers, telling the official club website: 'He is an unbelievable talent, a truly gifted footballer and I'm really excited by him.'
Former Barnsley man O'Brien is looking to show his quality after a stop-start season at Barnsley. Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph: 'One of the things we need is more runs through from the midfield area beyond the strikers.
'We didnt really have that sort of penetration last year but we saw it from Jim O'Brien a number of times against Watford and that's one of his big strengths.'
Amidst the tactical talk of the Sky Blues and the 3-5-2 formation they have been using in pre-season, opening day opponents Bradford City have bedding in a diamond formation over the summer.
