'If It's Football, It's Vital'

CCFC: It's Pressley's Team (Almost)

Having worked under a transfer embargo last summer, Coventry City manager Steven Pressley will have something like the team he wants on the field when the Sky Blues face Bradford City on the opening day of the 2014/15 campaign.

The embargo meant that the starting XI for the opening game of last season were all players that Pressley inherited when he took over at the club. A better than expected start to the campaign meant new arrivals were kept to a minimum while a difficult spell after the turn of the year led to a merry-go-round of loan signings at Sixfields.

This summer has been different with five permanent new signings to date and more expected before the big kick-off and although Pressley would have loved to have kept Callum Wilson (and probably Joe Murphy) it will still be a team with the managers` stamp on it.

Hopefully that will be a combination of those young players who have bought into the Scot`s methods with the arrival of some more battle-hardened professionals such as Reda Johnson, Danny Pugh and hopefully Marcus Tudgay.

City, who lost to Chievo Verona on Wednesday, drew 0-0 against AEL Kalloni of Greece on Thursday although the game in Northern Italy was more notable for the sending off of four players including Pugh and Billy Daniels.
