Keogh Closes in on Premier League

Few Coventry City supporters would begrudge former defender Richard Keogh a shot at the Premier League next season should Derby County make it into the top-flight.

The Rams host Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 advantage from the opening leg of their Championship play-off semi-final.

Wembley and perhaps the top-flight beckons for one of the more popular Sky Blues players of recent seasons. Keogh made 91, fully-committed, appearances for the club before trudging disconsolately off the Ricoh Arena pitch after being sent-off against Doncaster Rovers as relegation to League One was confirmed.

Derby manager Nigel Clough moved quickly to sign him and a long haul through the divisions of the English game could result in a shot at the top division next season as Keogh has remained a mainstay under new manager Steve McClaren.
