Wolves Point Secures Sky Blues Safety
Having guided his Coventry City side to League One safety, secured by a 1-1 draw against Champions Wolves at Sixfields on Saturday, manager Steven Pressley is already working out how to improve his squad for next season despite what he calls a 'slightly smaller budget'.
The Sky Blues gave as good as they got against the division's top side, equalising within minutes after Edwards had struck late for the visitors.
In the cold light of day City's total haul of 16 wins and 13 draws would have seen them comfortably in the top half of the table and that represents a huge achievement for Pressley given the off-field issues, points penalty and transfer embargo he faced in the summer.
Whether the Scot wants to do it all again with less money next season may depend on what kind of offers come his way over the next few weeks.
For now, though, he can take satisfaction from what he and his players have done and enjoy a couple of weeks of relaxation before the hard work begins again.
Speaking afterwards he said: "I can go and have a couple of beers tonight! To get over the line with the deduction and other things is a wonderful effort.
"I know celebrating not being relegated at this club shouldn't be a great deal but this season it should with what we've endured. We're grateful for the fans who have been terrific with us."
