Filling the Gap: City Search for Clarke Mark II

Bolton Wanderers striker Tom Eaves, currently on loan in League One with Shrewsbury Town, is being linked with a summer move to Coventry City.

Despite the boost that Callum Wilson's return from injury has given to the Sky Blues in terms of their goalscoring it is clear that City have struggled to maintain the kind of dynamic attacking displays they were turning in when Wilson was being partnered by Leon Clarke.

To that end, Eaves seems to be a target man type of player who could partner Coventry's young hotshot if, and it's a big if, Wilson is still with the club next season.

On loan Celtic midfielder Dylan McGeouch, meanwhile, will find out soon whether he has a future with the Scottish champions after struggling to get into Steven Pressley's first team since moving south of the border.

Update Pressley has been talking about the signings City have made this season and the lack of background checks and preparation that was done on some of them as he tried to improve the club's scouting network.

"I feel we`ve improved that in the last month and hopefully, now, we`ll start seeing better decisions and greater diligence on players we bring in."
