Tranmere Trip For Sky Blues

Tranmere Trip For Sky Blues

Coventry City travel to Merseyside on Saturday to face Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park in League One.

While Tuesday night's defeat at the hands of Carlisle United all but spells the end of the Sky Blues' play-off hopes, Steven Pressley's side need to return to winning ways soon to ensure they are not dragged into a relegation struggle.

Pressley was pleased with City's first-half performance at Sixfields but felt his side lost their aggression after the break.

New loan signings Michael Petrasso and Chuba Akpom showed up well and the Scot may have more options at his disposal if either Nathan Delfouneso or Callum Wilson is fit although the game against Shrewsbury on March 2 is looking more likely for Wilson's comeback.

Like Carlisle, Tranmere go into the game on the back of a wasted trip to face Crawley Town. Their fixture on Tuesday night was called off just over an hour before kick-off.

Assistant manager John McMahon will be in charge against the Sky Blues as Ronnie Moore has been suspended pending a Football Association investigation into a potential breach of betting rules.

'I'm no stranger to taking over in these situations,' said McMahon.

'Hopefully the players can get some points and start looking at safety.'
