No Controversy From Sky Blues' Barton!
Coventry City midfielder Adam Barton hopes to keep his place for this Saturday's game at Notts County after a determined display in tough conditions on Tuesday night as the former Preston man came in for John Fleck at Bristol City.
Barton's previous opportunities this season have seen the 23-year-old struggle to impose himself on games and even Steven Pressley, clearly a fan of the player, looked to have counted him out of his plans by saying he would not stand in Barton's way should he leave during January.
And Barton has confirmed that there was interest in his services, telling the Coventry Telegraph: 'There was a chance to go out permanently in the window but I didn`t think it was right for me and felt I would have learned more staying here.'
It's a huge vote of faith in the Sky Blues manager and his methods that even someone on the fringes of the first team (and Pressley is not a man who rotates his side too regularly) can see the benefits of the work being done on the training ground with both of the recent new arrivals, Nathan Delfouneso and Mark Marshall, have spoken of the intensity of the training sessions at the club.
Barton's re-emergence, Marshall's immediate introduction and the Premier League quality that Delfouneso brings mean that Pressley has plenty of options for the trip to Meadow Lane and the feeling that any player he does bring in to the starting XI will know their job and slot straight in without problems.
