Wilson Blow Speeds Up Sky Blue Signing

Wilson Blow Speeds Up Sky Blue Signing

Steven Pressley is hopeful that the Dutch striker he has been running the rule over in training will sign for Coventry City on Friday and even be included in the manager's thoughts for the FA Cup trip to Barnsley.

That is because of the huge blow of Callum Wilson's shoulder injury sustained at Rotherham on New Year's Day and a potential three-month absence.

Speaking about his potential new signing to the Coventry Telegraph, Pressley said: 'The idea was to bring him in as a development player but because of the circumstances we might have to start that process a little bit quicker and get him into the first team as soon we can.

'That could be on Saturday because although we do have other options that would allow us to continue with the shape formation that has worked really well for us. And this lad has got sheer pace which is something we will certainly need if Callum is going to be out for an extended period.'

Striker Chris Dagnall is set to line up against the Sky Blues for Barnsley in Saturday's FA Cup tie at Oakwell.

Having ended his loan spell with Steven Pressley's men, Dagnall has an immediate chance to impress new Tykes boss Danny Wilson.

Wilson told the official Barnsley website: 'He`s our player and I`m sure Dags himself would want to do well for his club that pays his wages and certainly for himself as well.' '

'If it means him playing against Coventry and scoring a hat-trick then we'll take it.'

Update Dagnall is, in fact, not able to play in the game as he officially remains a City player until Sunday. Denzel Slager has been named as the imminent signing, agreeing an 18-month deal from Eredivisie side RKC Waalwijk.
