'If It's Football, It's Vital'

City Start Year In New York!

Coventry City face the first of two trips to South Yorkshire in four days when they take on Rotherham United on New Year's Day, a quick turnaround of a 'home' fixture they lost 3-0 recently.

The Sky Blues have produced some excellent performances since then to maintain their position in the top half of the League One table, nine points behind Rotherham who currently occupy the final play-off place.

That is despite a 2-0 reverse at Port Vale on Sunday which manager Steve Evans felt stemmed from a slow start from his side.

'For 15 or 20 minutes we looked like a team that wasn't organised.'

City boss Steven Pressley praised his players for their way they kept their composure against Oldham Athletic despite the loss of a late first-half goal which came after the key moment of the game.

Leon Clarke and Callum Wilson combined to send the latter clear. Wilson got to the ball before goalkeeper Mark Oxley before being sent crashing to the ground outside the area.

Pressley said afterwards: 'It must be a sending off but the referee chose not to take the right course of action.'

For the Sky Blues it is a first trip to the New York stadium and presumably notes will be being taken by the club hierarchy as a proposed new ground for City will be based on it.

***Update*** Impressive loanee centre-half Danny Seaborne and midfielder John Fleck are doubts for the game after picking up knocks against Oldham.
