'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Coventry City Versus Oldham Athletic

It's all back to Sixfields on Sunday, three days after Coventry City's excellent 4-2 win against Peterborough United as the Sky Blues play host to an Oldham Athletic side struggling near the foot of the League One table.

The Latics will take heart from a good display on Boxing Day when they drew 1-1 at Sheffield United and will hope to have leading goalscorer Danny Philliskirk, who spent a short time with City in 2012/13.

Philliskirk, who has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season, made one appearance for the Sky Blues, in the final game at the Ricoh Arena against Leyton Orient, as Steven Pressley weighed up his options for the following season.

Oldham have lost 7 of their 12 away games, scoring 15 goals in the process. Another Sky Blues old-boy, Jonson Clarke-Harris, netted for them at Bramall Lane on Boxing Day and manager Lee Johnson believes the 19-year-old has a bright future in the game.

Speaking to BBC Radio Manchester at the beginning of December, Johnson said of the player who made his City debut at 16: 'He's got a lot to learn but he's got a fantastic left foot and he's a threat.'

Pressley, meanwhile, will be tempted to stick with the same starting XI despite the intense nature of the festive period. The win over Peterborough made it 7 so far this season at their temporary home ground while 29 City goals is also the highest for any home side in the division as Callum Wilson and Leon Clarke continue their fine form.

A couple of ex-strikers have scored against us this season, McDonald for the Gills and Jeffers for Posh. Hard to see us not scoring a couple ourselves however.
