'If It's Football, It's Vital'

From None To Plenty: City's Striking Options

Having taken to the field at Hartlepool United on Saturday without a recognised striker, Coventry City manager Steven Pressley may have a host of options at his disposal for the upcoming League One game against Crewe Alexandra.

With loan strikers Chris Dagnall and Chris Maguire available to play and Callum Wilson back from suspension, Pressley is also confident that Leon Clarke will make a quicker than expected return from injury.

Clarke, however, may be kept in reserve at the weekend with Dagnall and Maguire once set to be ineligible for the replay against Hartlepool. 'We`ve had a lot of success with our system so I would prefer to be able to go with that formation again,' said the Sky Blues boss.

Pressley is also running the rule over a 21-year-old Dutch forward as he prepares for the January transfer window to open. The player, a summer target for City, can play either up front or out wide.

Hartlepool boss Colin Cooper, meanwhile, praised the Sky Blues as 'one of the best footballing sides in League One' but felt his team had more than held their own during the FA Cup tie.

'I said during the week we would (give them a game). Well we did in the second half, maybe not in the first half.'
