Potential Barnsley Tie For Sky Blues

Coventry City or Hartlepool United will play away to Barnsley in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup after Sunday's draw for the famous old competition.

The Tykes, home of former Sky Blues player Martin Cranie, are currently at the foot of the Championship and without a permanent manager after the departure of David Flitcroft.

Coventry reeled off four successive wins at Oakwell between 2006 and 2009 but have been beaten on their last two visits to the South Yorkshire club.

Although City are now favourites to progress past League Two Hartlepool in the Sixfields replay it will be no easy task after a hard-fought tie at Victoria Park on Saturday that embodied the spirit of the cup.

'Our players gave everything,' said manager Steven Pressley after the game, praising the way his side adapted to a new formation foisted on them by suspension and on-loan strikers Chris Dagnall (of Barnsley) and Chris Maguire not being given permission to play.

'We found the way to get a result. It wasn't the win we wanted or our travelling support wanted, but we're still in the Cup, with a home game now, so there are plus points.

'We were put under a lot of pressure and for the vast majority of the game we put up with it, and we showed as good determination not to get beaten.

'No complaints about the result. I thought it was fair.'
