How Late Is Too Late?

Coventry City Council leader Ann Lucas has penned an open letter to SISU boss Joy Seppala, hoping to 'end the nonsense' that sees the Sky Blues set to start the new Football League season playing their 'home' games at Sixfields Stadium, Northampton.

Writing ahead of the second meeting of creditors, Coun Lucas said: 'None of us wanted...to see an outcome which is not in the interests of the city, ACL (Arena Coventry Limited) or the football club.'

An 11th-hour intervention from someone who may have some ability to change CCFC's course away from the iceberg but what is unclear is when the cut-off point is and whether starting the season at Sixfields mean all hope is lost of a return to Coventry for some years to come.

The club have responded by saying they would be 'delighted' for Seppala and Lucas to meet but reiterate their stance that the CVA needs to be signed sooner rather than later.

They also say they would 'welcome' an investigation into the affairs of the club, council and ACL since 2003.

Vital View Is it possible to make a fresh start from the position we now find ourselves in? If so it would require all parties to hold their hands up and accept the mistakes that have been made in the past before negotiating their future position (with a return to the Ricoh, temporary or otherwise, as a gesture of goodwill towards the fans if nothing else.

Meeting adjourned until Friday according to Les Reid of the CT but some signs that relations are thawing slightly.
