Optimism On The Pitch For Sky Blues
Coventry City may remain in limbo off the field but the Sky Blues are presenting a united front on it after four friendlies in five days stretched a small squad to the limit ahead of the new League One season.
Friday night's 3-2 win at Mansfield and Saturday's narrow defeat at Oxford left manager Steven Pressley declaring: 'I am very much where I want us to be,' the Scot still searching for more pace and penetration in the final third of the field.
Former loanee Zavon Hines featured as a trialist against Oxford but Pressley will be acutely aware that his hopes of making any signings in the near future are slim to non-existent as the off-field wrangles continue.
The manager will be able to count on superb backing from supporters away from home but knows that his side will be playing to sparse, unsettled crowds at Sixfields for their 'home' games.
That, and the transfer embargo, means he does deserves time and patience to achieve his aims but success on the pitch may yet be taken further away from him if a further points penalty comes City's way.
