CCFC: Build From The Bottom - But Where's That?

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has given an interview to the Daily Record in Scotland in which he says a lot of sensible things about rebuilding the whole ethos of the Sky Blues 'from the bottom up' after years of under-achievement on the park.

Talking about his intention to make his players train and work harder he said: 'We don`t want Coventry to be their job - we want it to be their life. We need that type of commitment to turn the club around.

'The days will be longer and structured. Breakfasts and lunches will be mandatory and they`ll have afternoon sessions.'

The Scot talks passionately and with real determination about the task that he faces but he may find that the bottom has yet to be reached.

'Influenced'

City's season on the pitch will be massively influenced by events off it. At present it seems the Sky Blues will either be groundsharing in Northampton or, if the CVA is not agreed, hit with another points penalty.

Most supporters would probably prefer the latter if it meant some kind of progress was being made towards playing in Coventry and with all interested parties working together for the good of the club, the community and the city.

But maybe there won't be a club at all one year down the line. A sobering thought to take into Monday morning after a sunshine weekend that just possibly allowed Sky Blues supporters to forget the events of the last few days, if only temporarily.
