'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Upbeat Mr Pressley

Despite all off the off-field problems currently affecting Coventry City nothing has deflected manager Steven Pressley from being consistently upbeat about his players since he arrived at the club.

The Scot has said he is delighted with the attitude shown by those members of his squad who have returned for pre-season training as part of the core group that he intends to build his team around for next season.

That fits in with a string of positive comments he has made recently about style of play, potential signings, the promise of City's younger players and establishing a longer-term structure at the club.

It's easy to portray all of this as Pressley being used to deflect attention away from all of the other issues but it is more likely to be the case that he is single-minded in the pursuit of success.

Whether he is given the tools to do the job that he clearly feels he is capable of remains, of course, to be seen.
