Memories Of '87 As Phillips Signs On

Aaron Phillips has signed a new one-year contract with Coventry City after a successful loan spell at Nuneaton last season helped convince the club that he could challenge for a first-team place with the Sky Blues.

A right-back, Phillips is the son of David Phillips who filled that role so successfully in the 1987 FA Cup Final after Brian Borrows' unfortunate injury.

His progression is presumably one of the factors that allowed Steven Pressley to make a decision on Jordan Clarke's future at the club.

'I want to have a strong squad next season with every position covered, and Aaron will be an important part of that,' Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph.
