'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Will City's 'Other' Bidder Come Up On The Rails?

Michael Byng has confirmed that his consortium has made an 'indicative' bid to buy the part of Coventry City Football Club that is currently in administration.

While the interest of both Preston Haskell and current owners SISU has made most of the headlines, Byng and his Asian backers are aiming to link their bid for the club with some of the proposed rail regenerations projects currently being planned for the area.

'The situation regarding the football club is a complete and utter mess,' he told the Coventry Telegraph.

'So it's been very difficult to persuade investors to stay interested. But we`ve done it.'

***Update***Perhaps our headline should read 'off the rails' as according to reports on Monday the administrator has receieved six indicative offers but not one from Mr Byng.

A deadline for 'best and final' offers has been set for midday on Thursday.

Happy to be wrong but I think it will be decision time soon on whether we follow CCFC at a ground outside Coventry.
