Haskell 'Serious' About Sky Blues Bid

Haskell 'Serious' About Sky Blues Bid

Coventry City life president Joe Elliott says that Preston Haskell IV has made a formal takeover bid for the club ahead of the administrator's report on the current situation at CCFC.

Much still rests on the whereabouts of the 'Golden Share' which signifies membership of the Football League and which of the companies connected to the club that rests with.

'It's all depending on what's in the company that's in administration,' Elliott told BBC CWR. 'Nobody really knows what's in it.

'The Football League believe the Golden Share is there.

'Gary Hoffman and I have been working closely on this with Preston and we've had good communication from the administrator. We're just hoping that the Golden Share is there and that he will listen to our offer.'

***Update***Of course nothing is straightforward when it comes to Coventry City FC and it appears the waiting game will go on for a while yet after the administrator's report concluded that it was unclear as to where the Golden Share lies.

Another strange day. Joe Elliott and co must have felt confident by going public with their story that the administrator would confirm what they thought but he has not. How hard is it to ascertain who holds the Golden Share? Quite hard it seems. The lack of clarity on this is down to the club's owners but interesting that he says ACL is owed 'only' £600K and not what they are claiming.

Certainly from 1995 onwards it appears that ownership of the right to play in the Premier/Football League has become more and more unclear within an ever more complicated ownership structure. The football authorities, previous owners, the current owners are all complicit in this.
