Crewe Boss Determined To Build On JPT Final

Having seen his side survive a late scare to reach the Johnstone's Paint final at Coventry City's expense, Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis wants the Railwaymen to make a late push for a League One play-off place, starting with the same opponents at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday afternoon.

'Finishing halfway up the league isn't good enough for me and it won't be good enough for the players,' he said after the 2-0 home defeat at Gresty Road gave Crewe a 3-2 aggregate win.

'We want to finish higher than that.'

The Alex are currently 12 points off a top-six place but have games in hand on most of the teams above them and Davis may rotate his squad for the game, telling The Sentinel: "I'm pleased with the way the squad is performing and working hard, but the next couple of weeks will be a case of how they recover from games as well.

"I'll do what's right for the team and players. There are still a lot of games to go and we'll need everyone firing."
