'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bury 0 Coventry City 2

A turbulent week for Coventry City Football Club ended with Saturday's trip to face Bury at Gigg Lane as caretaker manager Lee Carsley and his players attempted to put a smile on the faces of the near-1,000 travelling fans.

A lot has changed for the Sky Blues since their defeat at the hands of Yeovil last weekend, Mark Robins quitting to join Huddersfield and more claim and counter-claim regarding the club's rent dispute.

Hidden amongst that was the loan signing of Carl Dickinson from Watford and he started against the Shakers while Carsley also recalled Stephen Elliott to replace Franck Moussa and, in his first big call as boss, dropped William Edjenguele for Nathan Cameron.

The new man in charge could hardly have wished for a better start, Leon Clarke putting City in front after just 3 minutes.

The Sky Blues, always more comfortable on their travels, continued to make chances and captain Carl Baker made it two on 73 minutes to secure a very welcome win and keep play-off hopes firmly alive.

More to come on Vital Coventry.

An excellent win in the circumstances of the week. Chalk one up for Carsley on team selection and subs.
