Best Wishes As Striker Exits City

Roy O'Donovan has left Coventry City to join Northampton Town on a deal that runs until the end of the 2012/13 season.

The 27-year-old Irishman links up again with former Sky Blues boss Aidy Boothroyd at Sixfields and leaves City having tried valiantly but in vain to break into the first-team picture on a regular basis.

'Roy is a striker who can also play in both wide areas,' said Boothroyd.

'He is fit, athletic, mobile and he has an eye for goal. He will give us a different kind of threat to the other players we have at the club.'

Offloading O'Donovan and Cody McDonald (on loan to Gillingham) should free up funds for Mark Robins to bring in another striker either on deadline day itself or when the loan window re-opens in a week or so's time.
