Preston Versus City: Take Three!

Coventry City will breathe a sigh of relief on Saturday evening knowing that they will not be facing Preston North End again this season after a third meeting between the two sides in just over a month.

Mark Robins' dislike of the style of play employed by the Deepdale side has been made fairly clear in recent weeks but his Sky Blues have come out of the two games to date with a point in the league and a dramatic JPT triumph.

The City boss has challenged William Edjenguele to improve on his display against Oldham last Saturday when similar tactics were employed and reports suggest he may be tempted to rest the Frenchman and hand Nathan Cameron his opportunity.

Whoever does line up in Lancashire they will be facing a home side in some turmoil as manager Graham Westley continues to chop and change in a bid to find a winning formula. Their last-gasp defeat in the cup at the Ricoh was followed by a home defeat against Walsall before a trip to Yeovil was postponed.

Westley told the Lancashire Evening Post: 'We have struggled with the depth of the squad which hasn't been sufficient when players have been missing - I can`t hide from that.'

Scotland The Blue?

Coventry, meanwhile, are being linked with a deal to sign free agent striker Jason Scotland to boost their play-off ambitions after he was released by Ipswich Town.

Money for the deal could be freed up by Cody McDonald's proposed loan switch to League Two pacesetters Gillingham.
