'If It's Football, It's Vital'

U's Versus Sky Blues

Colchester United host Coventry City on Tuesday night with both sides having gained confidence-boosting wins at the weekend.

While the Sky Blues were hammering Hartlepool, a goal from former Coventry loanee Freddie Sears was helping the U's end a run of defeats in November with a 2-0 success against Bury.

'We had to be patient, and I felt overall our patience was rewarded in the second half with two good goals,' said manager Joe Dunne afterwards.

'The players had received a lot of criticism, for letting two-goal leads slip in recent weeks but we defended really well today. We dug in and grafted at the end.'

Dunne's opposite number, Mark Robins, has some welcome selection decisions to make after seeing Franck Moussa and Gary McSheffrey impress after their recall on Saturday while Adam Barton came off the substitute's bench to put the gloss on the Hartlepool romp.

Moussa, who also scored, told the official club website: "It's definitely pleasing for me to get my first goal because I said when I came to the club that I wanted to bring something extra to the attacking side of the team. The goal has been a long time coming."

Some welcome selection problems at last. Colchester are in good form under their new manager so a point would keep our own good run going.

Couple of ex-City strikers in their ranks. Sears is starting. Morrison on the bench.
