'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Roy Of The City Still Hopeful!

Vital Coventry wrote an article last week praising Coventry City striker Roy O'Donovan for his professionalism in the face of being a perennial unused substitute at the Ricoh Arena and the Irishman will have endeared himself more to Sky Blues' supporters with an upbeat interview in the Coventry Telegraph.

Outlining his determination to get into the starting XI and on the scoresheet, O'Donovan talks of his 'never-say-die' attitude to his career with the club.

As time runs out on his contract he is hoping for a 'Roy of the Rovers' few months, starting against Hartlepool at the weekend, the club where O'Donovan came to City's attention after scoring 9 goals in 15 games while on loan from Sunderland in 2010.

'exploits'

Hartlepool was also the erstwhile home of a striker who earned himself the Roy of the Rovers tag for his FA Cup exploits in the 1980's, firstly at York and then of course with the Sky Blues.

Keith Houchen enjoyed (or endured according to Jonathan Strange's excellent biography) spells as both player and manager at the North East club who are set to appoint their latest new boss ahead of the weekend game against Mark Robins' men.

Phil Brown, one of the names in the frame for the City job before Robins was appointed, is the front-runner.
